No, I’m not talking about crazy parties here in our quiet peaceful neighborhood. I’m referring to all the wildlife that lives nearby and visits our yards on a fairly regular basis.
With nearly 40 acres of greenery and trees, and bordered with so many woodlands, it’s no wonder we have so many of nature’s creatures that are spotted here in our community.
Grey and black squirrels, foxes, rabbits, skunks. If you haven’t seen the skunks, I’m sure you’ve smelled them!
We’re visited regularly by raccoons, which is a good reason to keep your garage door closed when you’re not occupying the space.
We also have opossums. They might play dead, but they’re sure good at digging up our grass when they’re looking for grubs.
I’m sure you’ve seen the wild turkeys. As many as eight or nine have spent time near my yard.
We even have a few mallard ducks that nest every spring in the shrubs.
And the coyotes; we definitely have coyotes. If you haven’t seen them, you might have heard them howling and yipping in the woods on a quiet night. A good reason to keep a close eye on your small pets.
And yes of course, the whitetail deer. We know they like to eat our plants on occasion but it’s good to see them anyway.
Mother nature truly is grand!
See you in the next post . . .
